The secret the fox gave to the Little Prince
"It is only with the heart that one sees rightly what is essential is invisible to the eye"

Forgiven In A Storm

Stewart Duffie November 1997

The lights from the heavens twinkle bright
as I sit and stare at the heavens light.
What splendor I see as the wind brushes me
and the white caps smash to the shore.

The wind picks up speed and snow starts to fly,
as the last of the seagulls let out their cry.
The heavenly view disappears out of sight,
A storm from the north will hit us tonight.
The wind rushes the snow hard to my face,
The night birds run in the wind with grace.
The fisherman all rush home to be safe,
and I am alone with Him.

Softly and gently He calls out to me,
as I sit there alone down by the sea.
He loves you the wind sings in my ears,
Calming and easing all of my fears.
My heart settles down to a soft easy pace,
no longer my mind running the race.
My future is certain I know without fear,
I am forgiven.

Quiet Reflections

Stewart Duffie 1997

Have I wounded a soul today,
have I caused a tear to be shed.
Could I have done something else,
watched where I tread.

Have I hurt some ones feelings,
with an unkind act or deed
Have I overlooked something,
did I miss someone in need

. Have I been too busy,
with every day cares.
Has someone needed me,
to help ease their fears.

Have I not held out my hand,
to those who are in need
. Have I not followed Jesus
and planted a small seed.

. Tho life's path is hard,
I can lighten the load
. Of some weary traveler,
down life's rocky road

. To watch a smile,
beam through pure pain.
To watch pure sunlight,
after the rain

Treasure of God

Stewart Duffie 1997

I see the swallow take off and fly,
It swoops and darts in a clear blue sky.
I see a fish break the waters clear,
and know that God is resting here.

I watch the sea rumble and roar,
It tumbles and shakes and beats the shore.
I see the fishermen cast their nets without fear,
and know that God is resting here.

I watch the moon light up the sky,
I hear the night bird with its lonesome cry.
I see a mother hold her baby near,
and know that God resting here.

I see a plane up in the sky,
its motors roaring to keep them high.
I feel the peace which we hold dear,
and know that God is resting here.

I smell the sweet smell of grass cut new,
I feel the sun's warmth in a sky of blue.
I hear the voice of God so clear,
and know that God is resting here.

These wonders of nature God gives me.
as I sit and think by the clear blue sea.
I see people who do not care,
and know that God must shed a tear.

Skip's Christmas Greeting

Stewart Duffie 1997

The night is cold, the stars are bright,
The wind moans low on this winters night.
The animals witness a woman give birth.
The son of God has come to earth..

Men of wisdom standing near,
A star has led them to this child so dear.
Joseph smiles at this child so small,
born to Mary in this manger stall.

The shepherd's in the fields took fright,
to hear a choir on this silent night.
Hark the angels shout and sing,
Jesus the child is our newborn king.

Peace on earth we say to each other,
and treat each one as our brother.
Please do not forget my Christmas prayer,
keep Jesus in your heart all through the year..
Awake Awake the prophets sing,
Jesus is our eternal King.

A Gift and a Promise

by Stewart Duffie
1997

To you my God I offer me,
I have nothing else but this body you gave.
I see the lonely eyes of the people in the street
I wonder, do they not see You, as I pass?

How is it that they cannot hear you?
You speak with such love and devotion,
I hear you in the wind speaking words of love
I am kissed by the rain you send.

You said take up My cross My son
My cup I pass on to you I will help you
endure and ease the pain,
I will hold you in the palm of my hand,
My hand will hold back the killer within you.

I look into the sad eyes of the doctors,
They think, my body is betraying me
They do not understand your love and power,
so much greater than theirs.

In the night You whisper,
I love you, it is not punishment, but love
You tell me about the poor, the lonely, the sick
You ask me to shine so they will know.

You promised, that when it becomes unbearable.
You will call me home, do not allow me to become weak,
Your gentle sigh your breath upon me, I will come to you.
I will once again feel the warmth of Your light.

Jesus how wonderful your name.
You came in the night to show me the light.
Of love in your heart.

A Dream?

Stewart Duffie

In the dark I sense the form,
I cry out in despair without hope,
The dark crowds around me like a blanket.
I cannot see it, yet it moves closer.

My breath is like a rattle, my mind races,
my heart wishes to leave this troubled chest.
I wait, unable to move,
I know it is there waiting.

What have I done to be so harshly treated,
whom have I offended to be given such guilt.
From somewhere inside a candle rages against this dark,
My soul comes to my rescue, it is not you but the world.

Words from my childhood rush into my brain,
Love your neighour, Love your Lord God
The words of Jesus come to my comfort,
Be not afraid, I go before you.

A peace floats from somewhere within,
a calm settles upon me, I am at rest.
I look into the terrifying dark and there is light.
My heart slows and is at peace with God.

I dwell on those who have gone before,
I wonder why I am left, I feel His gentle love.
I am here, what purpose. why?
What must I learn, who shall hear me?

The door opens and light floods in,
is it an angel in flowing white?
A voice softly calls me by name,
it is time for your chemo.

Advent 1997 In the City

Stewart Duffie

Lonely people in the streets rush by,
snow falling from a dull grey sky.
In the cold a child cries, its mother sighs,
In the alley a father dies.

Shops with windows lit so bright,
selling their wares far into the night.
A man with clothes tattered and torn,
in this city of plenty he is forlorn.

. A hush settles over all of the earth,
It is the advent of our savior's birth.
Born out of his mother's agony and pain,
She offers her son, she without stain.

Again and again over the years,
this mothers offers this child of tears.
He was born for our sins, a star so bright,
a light for all, a candle raging in the night.

A flame of hope to us on earth,
have we learned by this little child's birth.
God's only Son had death in store.
We couldn't care less ,He couldn't care more

A man sits close to the prison wall,
A woman lies dead in a dirty hall.
At last morning comes to the large city,
Our God sheds tears for His people in pity.

One Commandment

Skip duffie

Have you ever wished to get back to basics
perhaps to go back in time
. Back to your childhood, or youth
. When the world was just a bit more kind

To see the world through the eyes of a child,
not as adults that which we see.
The cruelty, hunger, drugs and war,
just Jesus holding us so tenderly

To feel the warmth of His loving touch,
to once again feel warm and secure.
To see the light of love in His eyes,
the end of hunger, pain and war.

To change this world is easy to do,
whether Hindu Gentile or Jew.
To follow one commandment He gave to us
to love each other as He loves You.
