AFTER HOLY COMMUNION

Blessed Mechtilde von Hackeborn                       The 13th Century

She (Mechtilde) saw how the Lord opened the Wound of His amiable Heart and said: "Behold the greatness of My Love.  Wilt thou learn to know it, thou wilt find it nowhere so clearly as in the words of the Gospel: 'As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved thee'".  The Lord united His amiable Heart with the soul's heart, and gave her all practices of contemplation, devotion, and love, and made her rich in all good.

After Holy Communion she longed for nothing else but the praises of God.  Then the Lord gave her His divine Heart in the form of a richly decorated golden ornament, and said to her: "Through My divine Heart thou wilt always praise Me".
