Formal Prayers & Devotions

Part II

Morning Prayers

Just was we spend time conversing with a friend or family member we love, so too we should develop our conversation and relationship with God through prayer. Starting and ending the day with prayer is a time-honored tradition, that will help us grow closer to our Lord through that regular conversation - prayer. Like anyone you love, God wants time with you, and those who love the Lord Jesus should spend more time in prayer, meditation, study and adoration of the God who has given us all good things.

Morning Offering to the Sacred Heart

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of
Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and
sufferings of this day for all the intentions of
Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy
Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in
reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all
our associates, and in particular for the intentions
of our Holy Father this month.
Amen!

For those not yet familiar with Catholic thought, prayers for the pope are in keeping with our Lord's wishes. Jesus gave the pope the keys to the kingdom (Mt. 16:18), and the popes are instructed to strengthen the faithful. (Jn. 21:15-19). There is not doubt that the early pope's excercised authority over other bishops and churches, as a study of early Christian writing will reveal.

Fatima Morning Offering

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of
Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and
sufferings, all that this day may bring, be they
good or bad: for the love of God, for the
conversion of sinners, and in reparation for all the
sins committed against the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Amen!

Fatima was the scene in 1917 of a series of appearances (apparitions) of the Blessed Virgin to three little Portoguese children. It is a fascinating story, and we hope to present more information on this topic and the miracles witnessed by over 70,000 people at once in the days ahead.

Lord God Almighty

Lord God Almighty,
You have brought us safely
to the beginning of this day.
Defend us today by Your mighty power,
that we may not fall into any sin,
but that all our words may so proceed
and all our thoughts and actions be so directed,
as to be always just in Your sight.
We ask this through the holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen!

Morning Prayer

Most Holy and Adorable Trinity,
one God in three Persons,
I praise you and give you thanks
for all the favors You have bestowed on me.
Your goodness has preserved me until now.
I offer you my whole being
and in particular all my thoughts, words, and deeds,
together with all the trials I may undergo today.
Give them Your blessing.
May your Divine Love animate them
and may they serve Your greater glory.

I make this morning offering
In union with the Divine intentions of Jesus Christ
who offers Himself daily in the Sacrifice of the Mass
and in union with Mary, His Virgin Mother and our Mother,
who was always the faithful handmaid of the Lord.

Amen!
