There are many different types of awards available on the Internet today for web-sites. Web-savvy individuals know that some awards are literally available for the taking, because a number of web-sites use awards as a way of creating link-backs (and thus, visitors and traffic) for their own web sites. When we get the impression that an award is just a 'gimmie,' without any real qualifications needed to earn it, such 'awards' are not knowingly posted on our pages.

But there are many web awards that are earned because of a site's content, creativity, and a potential host of other factors. These types of awards require time on the part of the individual or committee checking the web-site, to see if certain standards are met. The individuals who rate sites or investigate web-pages for award consideration truly ought to be given awards themselves, since it is typically a labor of love involving hours of study and careful thought.
