Are we abolishing the law by means of faith? Not at
all! On the
contrary, we are confirming the Law. (Romans 3:31).
It is precisely
in this that God proves his love for us: that while we were still

In the eastern Christian tradition, icons were and still are a common expression of their faith.
Icons are rich in symbolism, even down to small details. For example, notice Jesus' right hand (left side of icon) in this picture. One finger touches the thumb - symbolizing the fact that Jesus had two natures - both human, and divine. The three remaining fingers are upright, a reminder of the Trinity. Icons and other Christian art can be found dating back to the early generations of the Christian era.
