Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Augst 7 A..D. 2010

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Habakkuk 1:122:4
Psalm 9:8-9, 10-11, 12-13
Matthew 17:14-20

A reflection on today's Scripture:

If you have faith the size of a mustard seed. . . . (Matthew 17:20)

In the realm of the spirit, everything is possible with Jesus by our sides. And the realm of the spirit is the realm of eternity.

Almost all of us need to spend more time in the realm of the spirit. We often consider it in passing on a Sunday morning. In the evening we may engage in a momentary acknowledgment of this most important aspect of our lives. But stop and consider -- this is our home. This is the Father's house. Think what Jesus says to us today -- in the Father's House, faith the size of a grain of sand, the size of a mustard seed -- too small almost to be seen, will move mountains. With that little faith, we will stand against all of Satan's fallen angels.

Not us alone. Indeed, as little children of God, we'll stand with Jesus as our Brother and Leader. He will show us what we must do and how we can be triumphant in what seems like an unmitigated disaster.

Listen today -- hear what Jesus has to say to you. "I love you, the Father loves you. In my Father's House you are the greatest of heroes if only you have faith." And what is faith? Faith consists in this -- love of God -- complete love of God as our true Father and our final home. Love that breeds action -- love that changes lives.
