Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:
June 22 A..D. 2010
Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
2 Kings 19:9b-11, 14-21, 31-35a, 36
Psalm 48:2-3ab, 3cd-4, 10-11
Matthew 7:6, 12-14
A reflection on today's Scripture:
In today's First Reading, we hear the age-old struggle between good and evil. Then, as now, hearts long for God to intervene and to make it perfectly clear that it was just a matter of time before all nations bowed down in worship before Him.
Until that day, we must wait, but joyfully, knowing that God is faithful to His promise and can be relied upon to raise our drooping spirits.
The Word of God can do that; it is a sure and certain weapon, a mighty shield, if we will just take it up and use it. It isn't hard or really even very time-consuming.
Just read Holy Scripture daily; let it be in your heart and on your lips that you may have peace, strength, joy, hope.
Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,
in answer to your prayer for help,
I have listened! (See 2 Kings 19:20)
