Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

June 15 A..D. 2010

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

1 Kings 21:17-29
Psalm 51:3-4, 5-6ab, 11 and 16
Matthew 5:43-48

A reflection on today's Scripture:

Today's Responsorial Psalm is one of my favorites. It reminds me that God is not only powerful, but approachable; not only sovereign, but kind and compassionate.

Since, like the Psalmist, our sin is always before us, we might never have reason for joy, except that by God's forgiveness we are cleansed of all guilt and washed thoroughly clean -- not by rough handling, but through the uplifted hand of Christ's priest in Sacramental Absolution, washed whiter than snow!
