Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 68:10-11, 20-21
A reflection on today's Scripture:
Today we have two exquisite farewell discourses, Paul's to the presbyters of the Church at Ephesus and Jesus' to the apostles at the Last Supper.
Paul says he has done what God called him to do, and that he did not shrink from proclaiming to them His entire plan. Jesus too, says He has accomplished on earth, the work given Him.
Paul says he is not responsible for our blood, where as we know Jesus was about to willingly take on Himself the blood guilt our sins deserved.
Knowing He would accomplish in Himself what the Father had called Him to do, Jesus prays, "I do not ask that You take them out of the world but that You keep them from the evil one." (John 17:15) "They are Your gift to Me. I wish that where I am they also may be with Me. . . ." (John 17:24)
And the people of God say, "Amen!"
