Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

March 6 A..D. 2010

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Micah 7:14-15, 18-20
Psalm 103:1-2, 3-4, 9-10, 11-12
Luke 15:1-3, 11-32

A reflection on today's Scripture:

This man eats with tax collectors and sinners. . . . (Luke 15:2)

Lord, Jesus, son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner!

We celebrate with joy
the Man who kept company with sinners,
who sat at table with the tax collectors,
who attacked His enemies with stories
to turn our hearts of stone into hearts
filled with His love.

When they say,
"He sat with tax collectors
and sinners," I want to
shout, "Hallelujah!" even though
it is Lent. I want to shout to the world,

"That means I have a chance!"

Jesus sat with tax collectors and sinners,
and He still does today.
He urges each of us back to the place
at His Father's table
and feeds us with His body and blood,
His soul and divinity. We become
Him, though we do not deserve it.

"He eats with tax collectors and sinners."
And if I did not, my table would be empty--
I can afford to be choosy?

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God,
have mercy on me, a sinner--
indeed, invite me to your table,
let me sit with you along with all
the other sinners.

O, what marvelous salvation,
O, what merciful love,
O, what a miracle of patience,
O, what a friend we have in Jesus.
