Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

January 27 A..D. 2010

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

2 Samuel 7:18-19, 24-29 Psalm 132:1-2, 3-5, 11, 12, 13-14 Mark 4:21-25

A reflection on today's Scripture:

If your heart were made of earth, what would it be like?

Would it be a stony path with much disinterested traffic where no seed could sprout?

Would it be full of stones or hardheartedness that cannot hold water and where the seed is soon withered and dies?

Would it be covered with the thorns of sin that allow nothing else to grow there?

Would it be richly cultivated and nourished with the good things God has for you and ready to receive the gift of the seed of everlasting life?

Any farmer knows what soil needs to be rich and productive. He knows that the stones need to be removed and the thorns burned. He knows the correct fertilizer and when to apply it.

Are you a good farmer of your heart and have you removed the stones of disinterest, the thorns of sin and nourished it to its fullest with the Word and body of Christ?
