Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

June 17 A..D. 2009

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

2 Corinthians 9:6-11

Psalm 112:1bc-2, 3-4, 9

Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

A reflection on today's Scripture:

The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. (2 Corinthians 9:10)

Good deeds are not only expected, but possible, and rely not on our ingenuity, but on cooperation with God's grace.

There are many opportunities and our treasury contains not just the meager things we might consider valuable, but also the goodness of God, which is beyond all value.

If we believe this, then we shouldn't withhold from others anything for fear that we might run out.

"God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)
