Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

June 3 A..D. 2009

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Tobit 3:1-11a, 16-17a
Psalm 25:2-3, 4-5ab, 6 and 7bc, 8-9
Mark 12:18-27

A reflection on today's Scripture:

In today's Gospel, Jesus poses this question, "Are you not misled because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?" (Mark 12:24)

Whereas this question might seem pertinent only when some religious subject is being discussed, the reality is altogether something else. In truth (and really what else matters but the truth?), if we want to avoid being misled in any facet of life, we must know God through His Word and His Son, Who is the Word become flesh. It is the only way.

Let us not fool ourselves or anyone else. Nothing else, but to know and to love God, and to love and to serve our neighbor, matters. Everything hinges on it. There is no other way.

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life." (John 14:6)
