Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalms 89:2-3, 21-22, 25 and 27
A reflection on today's Scripture:
Set down the pride and the righteousness.
Oh, you can find these in your life. Set them down and pick up the towel the gospel mentions "When Jesus had washed the disciples' feet." It is a very important task, to dissolve the hardness of mind and heart.
During this time when we read these gospels in light of the Resurrection, this is the Risen Lord speaking. "No one is greater than the One who sent me." Of course, even among the apostles there was one who had a hardness of mind and heart, and others who may have leaned that way.
I think most of us want the Lord to be accepted and loved. It makes sense that we respond to His call to be His disciples by coming again, with joy in our hearts from past renewal, to be refreshed by forgiveness for pride and judgment of others, and omission of the towel service we have been expected to accept. That will help us within the Christian community and help the community itself by building up the bonds of affection and unity. Then, as is implied in the last line of today's gospel passage:
"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me." (John 13:20)
Paul's sermon on God's mighty deeds with humble men and overcoming stubborn hearts leads up to the precursor of Christ, John the Baptist, and as Jesus' herald, he is our example of how to go before Him.
