Psalm 18:2-3a, 3bc-4, 5-6, 7
A reflection on today's Scripture:
One cannot overstate the significance of our baptism, our becoming Christians, followers of Christ. We might remind ourselves about that every time we bless ourselves with holy water.
In today's gospel we hear that the Jews wanted to stone Jesus because of what they perceived to be blasphemy regarding His good works. Christ reminded them that they were to believe the work of the Father, so that they might realize that "the Father is in me and I am in the Father." (see John 10:38)
As Christians, we are commissioned to carry out the work of Christ. We have yet to complete the work of Christ, the building of His kingdom. Each of us has a unique role in that process, one that only we can complete. Do our works reflect that we have a role in building up the kingdom of God?
