Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 102:2-3, 16-18, 19-21
A reflection on today's Scripture:
We are called to believe in God.
We are called to believe in His infinite goodness.
We are called to believe in His love and forgiveness.
In the book of Numbers we see what lack of faith did to the Jews in the desert. Saraph serpents were sent to the people and many died. The people became afraid and realized what their lack of faith had done and that they needed God, not only to complete the journey, but to truly live. Moses prayed and God told him, "Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and whoever looks at it after being bitten will live." (Numbers 21:8) And those who were bitten, and then looked at the statue, lived.
Our faith calls us to action. God is always there and will always forgive us for our sins no matter how grievous they are. What we must know is that our daily lives are filled with many actions, great and small. If each action is accompanied by God, then not only will we live eternally in the promised land (Heaven) but we will help others along their earthly pilgrimage, just as Moses building the saraph on a pole helped the Jews.
