Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 9:8-9, 10-11, 12-13
A reflection on today's Scripture:
Nowadays, after taking a course, a person might be sent out on an internship, to try their new skills on others.
The disciples in today's gospel sound like students coming back to Christ and saying, "We couldn't do what we thought we should be able to do. We were unable to cure the boy." Christ then rebuked them for their lack of faith, and proceeded to cure the boy Himself.
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed, according to Christ, we could accomplish wonders. What is faith? Does it grow? Does our amount of faith change, or does it even need to change? Are doubts about faith normal? How would one quantify their level or degree of faith? These are all legitimate questions that we can take time to resolve in our own lives.
Some of the first prayers we learn as children are our acts of Faith, Hope and Charity—and for a good reason. They are meant to be repeated throughout our life time. They are meant to make the foundations of our beliefs strong. Perhaps one key thing to think about in this reading of today is whether we think of faith as what I can do because I believe, or whether it's what Christ can do in and through me because of my humble attitudes and belief.
