Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 8:2ab and 5, 6-7, 8-9
A reflection on today's Scripture:
Why is remembering the Resurrection so important?
Is it merely just for the sake of remembering or is there something else?
Sometimes, things that happened so long ago feel like they have no meaning for the present time and though nice to hear about, don’t seem to find a meaningful way into our everyday lives.
Sometimes even the words of Holy Scripture, which we might have somewhat memorized and can recall as they are read year after year, have been changed and seem almost foreign.
What does this mean for us who look for and need something rock-solid to believe in, for something altogether reliable to hold on to? It means what it always has meant, and that is, without faith, the unfolding of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus can seem like an inconsequential story with differing renditions.
But for those who have been given faith—and work to nourish and keep it alive—these days, these words, these remembrances (no matter the rendition) are everything! They rescue us from the chaos and uncertainty of life. They save us from darkness and despair and, like the dawn of Easter morn, they roll back the stone that would lock our hardened hearts forever in death’s dark cold grip.
Instead, we have Easter joy, the foretaste of unending life, peace, love, hope—all those things that make life in this vale of tears bearable.
He has risen as He promised—Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia—and we with Him—Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
