Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:
December 1, A.D. 2007
Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Daniel 3:82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87
A reflection on today's Scripture:
Today is the last day of our current liturgical year and I find the Gospel reading very appropriate as we enter a new season and a new year.
It is so easy for any of us to get caught up in the daily happenings of our lives and get pulled away from our faith and a life that is centered on Jesus. He warns us to not let our hearts become drowsy and tells us to be constantly vigilant and in continuous prayer. He knows we are easily distracted and wants us to stay focused and on-track.
As we leave this old liturgical year, please take a few moments and reflect on the past year. Were there times when you seemed caught up in all the wrong things—times when you drifted away and seemed to lose heart? Perhaps you are there now.
Please join me as we start Advent tomorrow; let us renew our vigilance and our commitment to a renewed life in Christ.
