Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:
November 28, A.D. 2007
Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Daniel 5:1-6, 13-14, 16-17, 23-28
Daniel 3:62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67
A reflection on today's Scripture:
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand . . . .
Indeed, we are to go into our work and into our mission with nothing—absolutely nothing—not even words. As the need arises, the Lord will provide everything—what you are to say, what you are to do, where you are to be, what you need to eat.
We need prepare no defense in words because there is no defense in words that has any meaning. God will speak through us (if we have prepared ourselves in prayer and humility) all that need be said.
Jesus teaches total surrender, total trust, total reliance on the help of God. It's a hard lesson to learn—a very hard lesson. But it is a necessary one because, by ourselves we can do nothing except sin.
With Christ, all good things are possible.
