Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

November 15, A.D. 2007

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Wisdom 7:22b8:1
Psalm 119:89, 90, 91, 130, 135, 175
Luke 17:20-25

A reflection on today's Scripture:

The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed. (Luke 17:20)

Scripture is so rich in guidance! Jesus gives us many opportunities to prepare for His coming on the last day. But again, He instructs us not to be concerned about when that day will come or what it might be like. Rather, He tells us we must believe that each moment of our lives is filled with His glorious presence!

But who's listening?

Jesus continues to be rejected by our generation. Many ignore His teachings or waste time pondering His return. The "whens" and "hows" don't matter, Jesus repeats, "For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you."

How many times have others tried to counsel us about something we chose to ignore? "You'll be sorry," they'd say, and in the end our know-everything view caused us and others disappointment and regret. We can avoid eternal regret by asking Jesus to help us understand the truth in today's reading, where He speaks of our blindness and of how we'll best see His unmistakable return, of which only He knows. We'll recognize the Son of Man, for we'll see Him with our hearts.
