Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

July 21, A.D. 2007

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Exodus 12:37-42
Psalm 136:1 and 23-24, 10-12, 13-15
Matthew 12:14-21

A reflection on today's Scripture:

God's plan for salvation by sending His Son to us was truly magnificent.

God could, if He wanted, force all of us to love Him and use His enormous power to accomplish this. But instead, He sent His son as a servant to all to bring us into a love relationship with our Creator.

Jesus truly came to serve. He healed those who came to Him; He counseled those whose lives were full of sin and He loved all He encountered, even those who were trying to kill Him. Most of us can only imagine how a love that deep, really is.

Today's Gospel quotes from the prophet Isaiah who said, "A bruised reed he will not break, a smoldering wick he will not quench." This is the sign of a true servant, one who calls us to conversion and repentance through caring love.
