Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:
June 13, A.D. 2007
Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
2 Corinthians 3:4-11
Psalm 99:5, 6, 7, 8, 9
A reflection on today's Scripture:
Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
(see Matthew 5:13)
God does not go back on His word.
Love never fails. Never. God cannot rescind His love. God cannot take back what He has given. Love is kind, love is patient.
Jesus makes this point over and over. And here He makes it explicitly. He did not come to do away with the love shown to the people of Israel. He did not come to change it or make it different from what it was. The love God bore all people from the beginning came to a point and was born into time. That love has never changed nor will it ever change, and that love was unto death without stint and without measure.
Jesus could not do away with the Law and the Prophets because He was the embodiment of all that the law taught and all that the prophets said. In His life, God's truth and God's love took form forever, marking eternity indelibly!
