Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 32:1-2, 5, 6, 7
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
Today in the United States of America, we recognize Memorial Day as a national holiday. Despite the continued secularization of our society, the tradition of honoring those who so bravely gave, and continue to give, their lives for the cause of freedom prevails. It is also a day when we can reflect on how we use our precious gift of freedom.
Christ gave His life on the Cross for our salvation, thus opening the doors to heaven for each of us who choose to follow Him. We, in the United States and in many other places, have the right to follow our faith openly as part of our freedom. The rest is up to us, as to whether we use our freedoms appropriately. How are we doing with this challenge?
