Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
Perhaps the reason that the Jewish people found Jesusí message so hard was this: prior to Jesusí coming, God was somewhat inaccessible. At that time God was found only in the innermost parts of the temple and only the High Priest could venture there, and only at certain times. But Jesus changed all that.
As "God become man," Jesus made it possible for all of us to directly interact with the Father. There is no more need for a High Priest to intercede for us. In Him we come face to face with our Creator. No more need of bloody sacrifices, only our loving hearts.
What was once distant and impersonal is now very close and very personal. God loves us so much that He wanted to be with us in direct contact and came to be with us Himself. A tough concept for the Jews of that day became a very real relationship open to all.
