Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

1 Corinthians 15:1-8
Psalm 19:2-3, 4-5
John 14:6-14

A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father also. (see John 14:6-7)

Inevitably, for all of us, the circumstances of life eventually become a mixing bowl of difficult situations and possibly bewildering decisions. Issues become clouded; principles seem not so clear; outcomes are more uncertain than ever. The great headtrip of life can overwhelm us as we become snipped at by the wolfpack called Satan.

Should we allow ourselves to become flustered? Should we give up in despair as the devil would have us do? Should we eat, drink and be merry--vainly seeking happiness through pleasure? Those certainly are some of the possible choices that we can uniquely make as free-willed human creatures of God.

Jesus made it very clear in today's scripture that He speaks with authority, that He has come from the Father and is IN the Father. Jesus has taught us from whence salvation comes and how to attain it. His very life of atonement on earth was to insure that we could elect to attain everlasting joy with life in the Father.

Let us refocus our spiritual lenses by spending more time in prayer and quiet meditation on the meaning of Holy Scripture. Out of this experience, let us consider how we might serve the Lord with generosity, not our own selfish interests, but for the needs of others, be they physical or eventually, spiritual.

The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul;
The decree of the Lord is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The command of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eye;
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever;
The ordinances of the Lord are true, all of them just.
(Psalm 19)
