Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 27:1, 4, 13-14
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
One thing I ask, this alone I seek:
To dwell in the house of the Lord all my days.
(see Psalm 27:4)
These words from today's Responsorial Psalm help me to remember what is most important to me, what I long for the most.
So often we seek happiness and pleasure in this world, though knowing full well that we can never be wholly satisfied with material things. It's as bad as if we didn't know any better and really expected to be sated. In both cases we either willingly or unknowingly expend our time and energy on comparatively worthless and empty activity when instead we could be actively working toward what we were created for—what will make us eternally happy: heaven itself!
Let us beg the Lord to provide for us the special grace to be able to recognize what is most important—to have right judgment concerning the goods of this world and the promise of eternity—"that I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord, to behold His temple."
