Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:
April 18, A.D. 2007
Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son . . . .
(see John 3:16)
If you do not know this, nothing you know is worth anything at all. And if you do know this, everything else pales in comparison. This is the revelation of love.
God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to tell us about it. Not only to tell us about it, but to show the full extent of God's love. And yet, how often we seem to forget about this love.
God loves us collectively, but He loves each person individually. If there had been but a single sinner in the entire world, Jesus would have come and died for that person. Jesus did not die for us collectively, or at least not solely collectively, rather, He died so that each one of us might come to know Him in the depth of His heart, that our hearts might become like His.
