Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 33:4-5, 18-20, 22
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)
Peter's words quoted above express God's will for all His children, repentance and forgiveness of sin that opens the door to their salvation through the working of the Holy Spirit in them. If we yield our hearts to His Spirit, allow Him to teach us and guide us, we will reflect the very love and truth of God made visible to the world in Christ. Scripture tells us that we are to be made holy as our Father is holy. Our only means to achieving any semblance of holiness is through obedience to God's Word applied in our lives through His Spirit. Spiritual blindness caused by man's insistence on self-will negates God's peace and joy and creates a world filled with hatred and strife.
Today's Gospel narrates the event that gives mankind hope of rising from its spiritual and physical death to a new and glorious life in Christ. The empty tomb speaks to humanity's hidden, deep desire to transcend the limitations of our present lives. It is this inner restlessness in us that drives some misguided souls to wrongdoing and excesses of every kind, but it is also what causes others to live wisely and work diligently to improve our human lot. The most joyful moment in today's reading is Jesus calling Mary of Magdala by name and her immediate recognition of His voice. He is the Good Shepherd who calls each of those placed in His care by name; we who learn to know His voice by prayerfully listening to and obeying Him will respond to His call and remain safely within His fold.
O Blessed Trinity, Author of love, truth and life, touch our hearts in a way that will teach us to know, love and obey Your Word and so make Your saving power seen on earth. Amen.
