A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:

Today, as on all Holy Saturdays, we hear many readings that constitute the history of our faith and our very being. It is a story of our God who loves us more than we can comprehend, more than we certainly deserve and with a love that is boundless and eternal. It is a love story between a creator and His creation that is repeated throughout history. He makes us in His image, and like Adam we stray. And while He punishes, He welcomes us back. He tests us as He did Abraham and finds us faithful. But then, as His beloved people did, we find ourselves lost and in a far away place only to cry out and have Him come for us once again. But in that rescue we become impatient and turn our backs, only to be punished again, but loved all the more. We fall in and out of love with Him through the ages, hearing some of His prophets while ignoring others, but His love persists. His love is so strong He finally makes the ultimate decision of coming to us to save us once again and then dies for us so we may live forever. This is our story, our Love story, the story of God and His people and a love that is endless and infinite--the story of a God who died for us. May our Almighty God richly bless us all, this Easter. - Don Claunch, SFO (dlclaunch at bresnan dot net)
