Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 69:8-10, 21-22, 31 and 33-34
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
One of you will betray me . . .
Oh yes, one of his Apostles will betray Him! One of His disciples will betray Him. In fact, if we look at the story, every one of them in greater or lesser ways betrays Him. He has announced His passion, but they all follow Him to a garden where they promptly fall asleep. Peter verbally betrays Jesus three times before sunrise.
So do we all--every day--in great ways and small ways. And there is surprising grace in this. We betray Jesus every day, and every evening He is there to comfort us in our affliction. Indeed, He is there in the moment, if we spend the time to find Him. Our betrayals add to the weight He bore, and yet He bore it willingly because He loves each one of us, each of His earthly brothers. He loves us with the heart of a brother and with the love of the Father. He who is Love and who incarnated Love and who taught the meaning of Love is betrayed daily, and yet always returns to the ones He loves and picks them up and helps them along.
No matter what we do, no matter where we go, we cannot hide from His love. It will always seek us out and redeem us, lift us up, and bring us to full knowledge of love.
