Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

March 9, A.D. 2007

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Genesis 37:3-4, 12-13a, 17b-28a
Psalm 105:16-17, 18-19, 20-21
Matthew 21:33-43, 45-46

A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:

Todayís Scriptures read like the treacherous accounts of man against his brethren that we hear unceasingly in the news. If you are one of those attracted to the easy access of internet news and 24 hour television coverage, you know it can be quite an addiction. Unlike the news however, Holy Scripture offers us a lasting remedy for hate and violence, but you will not discern it unless Godís grace intervenes and takes you away from the news of the world to spend time on more wholesome and virtuous endeavors like news about the world that will never end.

Changing bad habits that eat away away our time is not easy. Thatís why we need this season of grace where God is ever more solicitous to our cry for help. Let us then ask God to help us, help us to be fascinated with Him rather than with so many other worthless things such as excessive surfing, excessive television, excessive video watching, excessive exercise, excessive sleep, excessive work, excessive play. Let us pray that God will come to our assistance and make haste to help us!
