Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 31:20, 21, 22, 23, 24
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
The first reading to the Hebrews describes the high cost paid by those trying to live a life of faith. One attribute of history is the recognition that we have been delivered on the shoulders of many everyday and yet tremendous spiritual giants. Sometimes we recall that our faith was passed down to us through our parents, but who was responsible for their faith?
The gospel message in Mark 5:1-20 helps us to realize the power of Satan. When Christ cast out "Legion," thousands of swine were affected. Saying just a few prayers once in awhile when one is in the mood may not be enough to protect us. We live in a time when we're willing to pay hundreds and thousands of dollars for all kinds of insurance, for home, health, car and property. It seems like it would be practical to align ourselves more closely with the ONE who has such power over Satan . . . and it's free! Christ already paid the price for us with His blood on the CROSS!
