Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

January 22, A.D. 2007

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Hebrews 9:15, 24-28
Psalm 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4, 5-6
Mark 3:22-30

A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:

What a difference one word or a short phrase can make. We have the "Fiat" of the Blessed Virgin that changed all our lives for eternity. We think of the "I do" of a couple getting married or the "I will" of persons serving as godparents in a baptism. The first reading for today contains such a powerful verb.

It would be easy and comfortable to remain in ignorance and think of Christmas and Easter only as a recognition of historical events. The first reading reminds us otherwise. The expression in the reading from Hebrews is that Christ IS a mediator of a new covenant! As we go about our daily lives, Christ IS mediating for us with the Father! What a powerful thought for today!
