Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

January 10, A.D. 2007

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Hebrews 2:14-18
Psalm 105:1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8-9
Mark 1:29-39

A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:

Everyone is looking for you . . . .

Oh yes! Everyone is looking for Him. They often don't know it. They often can't realize it. But in the flurry of Christmas shopping, filling up with the good things of the marketplace--they are looking for Him. In the day to day grind, as they seek some reason to work and to live, they are looking for Him.

Sometimes we pray and pray and pray, and it seems there is no answer. We are looking for Him. We are hoping to see Him. We pray and seek, seek and pray, and wonder where He is.

And the truth is, He never leaves us. He loves us and stays by us. We seek Him, but we don't really look for Him. We half seek Him, half-afraid of finding Him. Half-afraid that if we do see Him, He will ask something we cannot give.

But He won't. He never has. "My yoke is easy, my burden light." The burden of a life free from constant fear and doubt is light indeed. God is with us--born to us as a Child in Bethlehem, and given us as our constant companion, our savior, our brother.

We may not find Him, but He will find us and preach to us--for that is why He came--to bring the love of the Father, the salvation of the world.
