Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

January 3, A.D. 2007

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

1 John 2:29—3:6
Psalm 98:1, 3cd-4, 5-6
John 1:29-34

A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world . . . .
Look carefully at what John the Baptist says. Behold the Lamb of God who TAKES away the SIN of the world. Not behold the Lamb of God who took away or who will take away. Rather, the Lamb of God takes away, continually and without ceasing. Because His act transcends time, it is not limited to a duration, but is effective always. And note, He comes not to take away the SINS of the world, but the SIN of the world. All of it, collectively.

The Lamb of God gathers up to Himself all of the sin and all of the cause of sin and He does away with it now and eternally. He is the Lamb of God, the perfect, pure and spotless sacrifice. His sacrifice is good for all time and through all time.

Behold the Lamb of God. Behold Him. Look where He comes. He is with us from the beginning of time and through all of time. Time means nothing to Him because He is the eternal, the complete, the only, the Holy Lamb of God who takes away all sin. Behold Him˜He comes to each of us and asks us to let Him in. Let us take time in this great season to listen.
