Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

Scripture from Today's Liturgy of the Word:
Acts 22:30; 23:6-11
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
"I have given them the glory you gave me that they may be one as we are one--I living in them, you living in me--that their unity may be complete." (John 17:22-23)
The theme underlying today's readings is the union of God and man perfectly manifested by His Christ Who was sent to us in human flesh. Indeed all of Scripture depicts man's arduous journey through life after he had separated himself from God through sin. All of the conflicts and struggles of His Chosen People between themselves and with their neighbors resulted from their separation from the love and truth through Whom they had been brought into being. Over the millennia, souls sensitive to God's voice tried to convey this idea that their separation from God was the cause of human misery, but their successes proved only temporary. Jesus Christ, the God-man is our Father's final and definitive answer to humanity's problems.
Jesus, in our Gospel, clearly states that it is He, God's living Word, in Whom we can be re-united with our heavenly Father. He told His disciples that He is One with the Father; and, if we live in Him, in obedience to God's divine Word, we will all be one with Him in the Father. Our personal choices will still determine our success; but we will have the additional help of grace given to us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. He will indwell believers to guide and empower them in life's difficult journey.
Your love for man is manifested to us by Your Cross.
May the grace we receive through faith in You,
bring us to an eternal vision of Your glory.
