Every day, we need to go to our quiet place...

A Quiet Place

Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:

June 1, A.D. 2001

: Acts 25:13-21
Psalm 103:1-2,11-12,19-20
John 21:15-20

A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:

In the readings of today we hear Christ asking Peter three times if he loves Him (John 21:15-20) and royalty plotting to capture St. Paul. (Acts 25:13-21)

It is the background events leading to these occasions that are of particular interest. In both instances the Peter and Paul are first fed physically or spiritually before being challenged to respond to their respective vocations. Our God is not a raging patriarch somewhere in heaven. He is a loving God who desires a relationship so intimate, that He will literally feed us.

We are left with many challenges from these readings, but two stand out in particular: 1. Do we regularly approach the intimate banquets in which Christ feeds us? 2. Once fed, do we lovingly feed others, or do we merely enjoy our spiritual fullness?
