Today's Scriptural Meditation Readings:
A brief reflection on today's Scripture passages:
Our nation revels in a "freedom" created by media and political
liberalism. Consequently, morals, ethics and personal accountability
have become vast grey areas of permissiveness. We define right and
wrong mainly by what is easiest, least demanding and most
self-gratifying. Those making moral judgments, hoping to prevent the
societal chaos toward which we are moving, will be reviled as enemies
Despite this hazard, dare those who follow Christ and bear His name
fail to witness Him to the world in word and deed? Christians, whose
attitudes and behavior betray the love and truth Christ has poured
into their hearts, commit serious sin. Our Faith sees all souls as
precious to God. Therefore, we should live and relate to others in a
manner that draws them to Christ, present ourselves as sinners who by
faith have been forgiven and become recipients of God's greatest gift
to man -- His salvation, our eternal life.
We grieve Christ's Holy Spirit whenever we deliberately reject God's
word. (Ephesians 4:30) He is grieved for others' sufferings caused by
our disobedience; and He is grieved for us who refuse the peace and
joy of the new life He offers us here and in eternity.
Sheep, though dull-witted creatures, possess one saving grace; they
know the voice of their shepherd and will follow only him. We would
gain much by emulating sheep.
attune our ears to the sound of Your voice;
guide our steps on the path to the light of Your presence.
